Buskers
I’d just settled into my seat when the music began. A beautiful female voice singing the Spanish love song, “Historia del amor”, gently accompanied by a man on an electric guitar.
A couple of buskers on the train to Barcelona.
The words of the song tell a story of burning passion and lost love, and her voice did it justice.
He played with real feeling. At the end, he burst into a surprise solo that was the perfect wrap-up.
I was captivated.
So were the other passengers, and we all applauded.
I wondered what it must be like to step onto a stage where you have no idea who your audience is, and whether they’ll even like your music.
It’s not like people have bought a ticket to your concert, or have chosen to come hear you play.
You’d have to trust there’s someone in your audience who loves what you’re doing. And hope for a few more.
And do what you do with heart and soul.
When we’re communicating in business we have the advantage of knowing who our audience is.
We can prepare “music” we know they’ll like. And a message that resonates.
What if we delivered it with that same musician’s energy, feeling and passion?
Imagine the difference we’d make…
