Feeling like an imposter?
For anyone who has ever suffered from imposter syndrome… you are in good company.
Maya Angelou once said: “I have written eleven books, but each time I think, 'Uh oh, they're going to find out now. I've run a game on everybody, and they're going to find me out.'"
If you sometimes feel that
what you have to say isn’t important,
you don’t belong,
you don’t know enough,
or you wonder why they gave you the job…
you are definitely not alone.
I know from my own experience that it’s a huge source of discomfort, and frustration.
Feeling like an imposter means we hold back, and miss out on opportunities.
Our advancement, growth and sense of fulfillment are at stake.
What’s required is a mindset shift.
A powerful way to turn around an in-built reflex, shaped in part by social conditioning, that doesn’t serve us.
It’s not about trying to be someone we’re not.
Or letting go of being warm and collaborative.
It’s about believing wholeheartedly in our talents, skills and expertise,
and building confidence
so we can lead through our communication.
Rather than asking ourselves, “Who am I to be saying this?”
The question is, “Who am I not to?”
