How much time?

How’s your time management when it comes to presentations?

After years of helping people perfect their presentations, I’ve developed an internal clock.

Without checking the time, I can instinctively sense when five or ten minutes have passed.

It's a handy skill in my line of work.

And here’s why:

When we're delivering a pitch, speech, or presentation, we're almost always up against a time limit.

And a lot of people struggle with that.

Which I get.

You’ve spent weeks, months—maybe even years—pouring your heart and soul into your work. How can you possibly convey all of that in just ten minutes?

And yet, it's really important to be concise, to

⏰ Show respect for the audience's time
✨ Increase clarity
🎯 Enhance our impact.

And it's not about speaking faster.

Instead, it’s about channeling our inner Michelangelo.

As communicators, we are sculptors with an important commission.

We have a block of top-tier marble—our expertise. And our task is to carve out a clear, powerful message.

Here’s how it works:

1️⃣ Begin with a vision:

Who is this for? Why are you sharing it? What do they need to hear?

2️⃣ Sketch out the form, structure, and flow of your content.

3️⃣ Start sculpting—chiseling away everything that doesn’t serve your vision.

Yes, you're cutting away good marble, but that’s part of the art. You want to show your work in its very best light.

What remains is just enough to make your presentation whole, meaningful, and… within the time limit.

(This is where practice comes in.)

It’s not about what we lose—it’s about what we leave behind. 🌟
