Shadow… or spotlight

Last Sunday, walking along the seafront with Phoebe the dog, I found myself — as usual — dodging the sun.

Hat on. Long sleeves. Factor 50.

My fair British skin needs protection in the Spanish sun. I’ve learnt to navigate it: stay in the shade, cover up, or wait for the strength of the sun to pass.

And it made me think.

For years, I did the same with visibility.

Avoiding the spotlight.

Staying in the shade.

Protecting myself.

Because sometimes, the spotlight feels like a harsh sun.

Too hot. Too exposing. Too much.

But here’s the thing: while avoiding the sun protects your skin, staying in the shadows doesn't help your voice to grow.

We *do* need barriers at times — especially when we’re finding our way.

But we also need to know when they’re holding us back.

Confidence isn’t about stepping straight into dazzling sun.

It’s about learning when and how to shed a layer, step into the light, and be seen — on your terms.

✨ It’s a process. Of knowing yourself, your values, and what matters enough to risk a little light.

🌿 If you’d like to feel more at ease being seen and heard — without having to be someone you’re not — send me a message.

I’d love to support you.
