The open door
Who can resist an open door?
Especially one that’s slightly ajar.
That reveals just enough to spark your curiosity,
Inviting you to peek behind it…
…For if you like what you see, you’ll step across the threshold
and behold what lies before you.
A willing audience, open to discovery.
As we step into a brand new year,
How will you enchant your audience?
Invite them not just to open the door and listen,
but to really hear what you have to say.
As communicators we have a choice.
We can continue with the same old,
Or we can choose fresh words, ideas, stories
That only we can tell.
That not only open doors and beckon people in,
but take them on a journey of learning and discovery.
I’m curious. How will you use your voice this year?
This post was inspired by a word my son recently contributed to the Words You Could Eat page right here on my website (carolineharvey.me/words-you-could-eat). During a Christmas Scrabble game he came across the Scottish version of the word ‘ajar’, and loved it so much he declared it an edible word – to be revered forever.
Any ideas what it might be? (Check out the “fun” page to find out.)
