Being brave
It takes courage to stand out when we’re “on stage”.
I was on my usual dog-walking route the other day when this beautiful hibiscus flower, all on its own, caught my eye.
The tree and all its fellow flowers were on the other side of the fence, but this bud had decided to follow a different path.
The result was striking.
I wonder what possibilities for connection open up when we venture through the barrier of convention.
Possibilities for truly engaging, and being not just seen, but heard.
Yes, it takes courage to communicate differently.
But we can start small. With something that goes beyond content.
Questions, images, objects, sounds, stories, silence…
A smile!
Points of connection that illuminate our communication, and help people stop, and ponder.
Listen, and understand.
Decide, or take action.
Yes, it takes courage – but it’s worth it.
Otherwise, there’s a good chance our audience will still be in the dark.
Which is a shame – for we all have a light to shine.
